Interested in a career in investment banking? Want to make money selling stocks and shares? If so, the Business Investor Challenge is the perfect place to start.
This is a simulation game ran by the University of Manchester. You will be given a fixed amount of capital to invest into fictional companies and you will have to use the information from press releases to decide on when to trade your stock and when would be a good opportunity to buy new stocks. Each session will be a new game and there will be a leaderboard to track the teams with the highest return on investment. At the end of the competition there will be a prize for the winner. There will also be the opportunity to compete against other schools and colleges at the annual Business Investor Competition at the University of Manchester.
Trading 212

Though not trading with real money, Trading212 is a real global CFD broker where you can invest in stocks and shares for real world companies at real times and prices. Think Wolf of Wall Street from an APP on your phone. You will have to use your commercial awareness and research to decide on which companies to invest your capital into. You must also be proactive in identifying any future events that might cause the fall in share price of your investments and sell before the rest of the market reacts. There will be prizes at the end of each half-term for different categories e.g. ‘top investor’ and ‘top analyst’.
Enterprise Challenge

Are you the next Apprentice? Do you think you could win over the Dragon’s? Join our enterprise challenge to put your enterprise skills into action.
There will be two strands to the enterprise challenge. One strand will be looking at setting up a business within the college to provide services to the college at key events when we invite members of the public into college. The second will be looking at setting up a not-for-profit business for the charity ‘CRY’(Cardiac Risk in the Young) with the aim of running a fundraising campaign during heart awareness month in February.
Lancaster Business Competition

A team of students presenting an innovative and sustainable business idea to a panel of experts at Lancaster University Management School. Students will get hands-on experience working with real entrepreneurs to help develop a viable business plan in competition with other colleges.
