Eco Group
Staff: RWO / KPA
Time: Mon 12 noon
Frequency: Fortnightly
If you're concerned about climate change and environmental issues, join likeminded students in the college Eco Group. Holy Cross is aiming to gain Eco-College Status and we have an action plan to try to reach this aim. You could become an Eco Ambassador for one of your subjects, helping to increase the materials we are recycling as a college thereby reducing our individual and collective carbon footprints. We're also interested in attending webinars, online conferences, signing petitions and finding ways to raise our voices to let the wider community know how important eco matters are!
Faith Ambassadors
Staff: RWO / KPA
Frequency: Periodically
Our Faith Ambassadors represent some of the different religious faiths in our college. They are committed to promoting understanding of people of faith with the aim of creating acceptance and peace in society. They embody our college values of faith, humility and daring and are always willing to answer any questions about being a person of faith. In a usual college year, the Faith Ambassadors visit local primary schools to do workshops with year 5/6 pupils and share their experience of being a person of faith. They also attend Bury's annual community cohesion event, Collabor8 where they may answer questions about their faith from members of the public. During the time of online learning, the Faith Ambassadors will be holding live Q&A sessions with interested staff and students.
4C
Staff: RWO / KPA
Time: Thursday both lunchtimes in RE4
Frequency: Weekly
The 4C group is an opportunity to get involved with charitable events, fundraising and occasionally there is the potential for activism and volunteering. If students are passionate about social justice and equality for all, the 4C groups provides a chance for them to support meaningful causes and quite often, get involved in making a difference in the local and wider community. For some students it's an opportunity for them to put their faith into action, and for all, it's a perfect way to give something back and develop skills of empathy, compassion and service. The group has been involved in organising One World Week, National Grief Awareness Week, Black History Month, Fairtrade Fortnight to name a few and raised thousands of pounds for charities
