Feminist Society

We gather to discuss contemporary issues facing females, across the world. We run through top stories from the previous month, and debate and discuss current challenges, relevant examples, and strategies to reduce gender inequality, whether in sport, education or politics. Focusing on international and national issues, right down to those facing us at a local and college-wide level, the group inspires healthy debate, and keeping up with current affairs, as well as considering how to tackle certain challenges. We also collaborate with the Collective to raise awareness of discrimination throughout college.

Sociology Extra is our enrichment programme for students who want to take their sociological thinking beyond the classroom. Through engaging film and TV screenings, discussions of contemporary social issues, and analysis of current news stories, students will explore how sociology helps us understand the world around us. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in national competitions, including the British Sociological Association (BSA) A-Level Essay Competition, helping them to stretch their academic abilities and strengthen university applications.
